The visit
The tour begins in the new exhibition hall of Santa Maria della Scala and continues at the Museo dell'Opera, where Duccio's Maestà can be seen. You can use the same ticket to visit the Museo dell'Opera of the Cathedral. Visits will be subjected to an entry mechanism based on the day and the entry time, according to the possibility of visiting and to the capacity of the exhibition and of the structure hosting it. Entry time means a time interval during which the owner of the ticket is expected to enter the place of exhibition. There are no restrictions on how long one can stay inside the halls; the entry time limitation was introduced in order to optimise the flow of arriving visitors, and to prevent queues at the entrance.

The visit
This exhibition will provide the first opportunity for seeing the extraordinary cycle of murals which were discovered in the crypt. In order to safeguard the murals, visits will be allowed only after booking, for groups of no more than 25 people every 30 minutes. The guided tour is included in the price of the ticket.

Booking costs
Pre-sale fees are € 1.00 for each full or reduced ticket to the Exhibition or to the Cathedral Crypt, Excursion outside Siena, € 2.00 for each integrated ticket (National Art Gallery of Siena, Civic Museum, Santa Maria della Scala Museum ). Handling costs will be added to any transactions carried out using credit cards, as well as any payments by bank transfer. These costs will be set at in € 3.00 for each order, however many tickets may be purchased.

Suggested itineraries
The Siena Tourism Agency is offering itineraries and tourist packages, especially created by Terre di Siena Incoming, with technical organization by the "Vacanze Senesi" agency, in order to "live" Siena and its province through the places of the exhibition. It is possible to book for individuals and groups, for three days, two days, one week or even just one day.
A circuit of restaurants has been set up for the exhibition, offering menus chosen by the Siena branch of the Italian Cooking Academy (Accademia Italiana della Cucina), by the Siena Slow Food group, in order to get to know and appreciate the dishes and products of the Siena cuisine, together with the great wines of the Lands of Siena.
At the end of your first day stay, we shall have the pleasure of offering you a round of wine tasting with the best Siena wines at the Italian Wine Cellar in the Medici Fortress.
3 days/2 nights stay
The first day of the meeting with Duccio and his art will be entirely dedicated to visiting the two sites of the exhibition: Santa Maria della Scala and the Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
The second day will be an itinerary in town, exploring mural painting in the days of Duccio: guided tour to the restoration works on the cycle of frescoes in the "crypt" of the Cathedral (this tour must be booked in advance), then to the church of Saint Martin and the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Servi.
In the afternoon, a visit to the Museo Civico, and especially to the Sala del Mappamondo, which has a fresco by Duccio depicting the Delivery of the Castle of Giuncarico.
If you want to take a deeper look at Sienese painting, you can visit the Pinacoteca Nazionale.
We suggest you explore the town by "trekking" through its curious alleys, the medieval fountains, the cuisine and the crafts.
On the third day, the itinerary through the territory of Siena will allow you to see works by masters of the circle of Duccio kept in fascinating places: in the town of Monteriggioni, whose fortified borgo was a Siena outpost mentioned by Dante in his Divine Comedy, the country churches of Saints John and Paul at Santa Colomba and Saint Lawrence at Colle Ciupi and at Casole d'Elsa, where one can take a pleasant stroll through the lovely streets of the town centre, the Collegiata and the Museum.

2 days/1 night stay
The first day visit to the exhibition and to the restoration works in the "crypt" of the Cathedral, then to the church of Saint Martin and the Basilica of Santa Maria dei Servi.
The second day either you can complete the itinerary inside the town, or – as an alternative – you can tour the territory of Siena, visiting Monteriggioni and Casole d'Elsa, as described in the first proposal.
